Appointments
Churchville Veterinary Hospital P.C.

What type of appointment do I need to schedule for my pet and what can I expect during that appointment?

Picture

Medical Exam/Sick Visits: Pre-scheduled, time-specified appointments. These appointments are to discuss and address any new or existing health issue(s), concerns or symptoms your pet may be experiencing. Your Veterinarian may order tests and prescribe medications.

Annual Wellness Visits: Pre-scheduled, time-specified appointments. These exams are prevention focused not problem focused. During these appointments the Veterinarian will discuss yearly pest prevention, focus on the overall health and growth of your pet, diet, behavior, activity, elimination patterns and overall wellness. We will recommend any necessary vaccines and parasite preventions and/or any necessary annual tests. These appointments are required in order to maintain an active veterinary-client-patient-relationship (VCPR)

Drop-Off Visits:  Pre-scheduled day admissions. For your convenience, Drop off appointments give us the flexibility to be able to see your pet on a day where we otherwise have no available appointments. You would bring your pet to us in the morning between 8:00am-9:00am for a day stay at our hospital. Drop off patients are given the same great care and attention that you have come to know and expect during normally scheduled appointments. Once the Veterinarian performs an exam, he/she will contact you to discuss their findings and go over a treatment plan with you. We will contact you to schedule a discharge time for your pet to go home later in the day/evening, once treatment has been completed.

Same Day Visits:  First-come, first-serve time-specified appointments. Same day appointments are for pets that need to be seen that day due to an illness, injury or accident. Appointments are limited. Please call the office that morning at 8:00am to inquire about same day appointment availablity.

Technician Visits: Pre-scheduled, time-specific appointments. Our Technicians and Assistants are trained, licensed and skilled at a wide variety of nursing and medical procedures ranging from; routine nail trims, anal gland expressions, removing sutures, laser therapy and administering injectable fluids and medications. These appointments do not involve a Veterinarian. If your pet has a medical concern that you would like addressed, a medical exam/sick visit appointment with a Veterinarian is required.

Surgical Procedures: Surgical procedures require general anesthesia. Our surgical procedures are scheduled in the mornings on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Surgeries require a 50% deposit to be provided on your pet's surgery date. For surgical procedures, we admit your pet into the hospital in the morning between 8:00-9:00am. They will undergo their surgery, while being monitored closely, before, during and after their procedure. We will maintain contact with you and schedule a discharge time for them to go home later in the day.

Dental Procedures:  Our dental procedures require general anesthesia. Pre-Anesthetic blood testing will need to be completed, prior to your pet's dental procedure appointment. Dental procedures require a 50% deposit be provided on your pet's procedure date. Once your pet in under general anesthesia, we will be able to begin performing a full oral examination of your pet. Just like at a human dentist, we will probe and chart each tooth and perform complete dental x-rays, which inform us of what treatments should be completed. We will monitor you pet closely before, during and after their procedure. We will maintain contact with you and schedule a discharge time for them to go home later in the day.

Veterinarian Consultation:  Pre-scheduled time-specific appointments with a Veterinarian in-person or over the phone to discuss; second opinions, complicated medical issues, treatment options, prognosis and/or quality of life.

Medical Monitoring: These are pre-scheduled, time-specific appointments. These appointments allow us to closely monitor pets that are taking regular medications and/or have chronic health conditions. This is to ensure that their ongoing medications/treatments are still appropriate. These visits are performed every 6 months and include bloodwork.

Pre-Travel Exams: Please see our Travel With Your Pet section and contact us for more information. USDA pre-travel exams and CVI (Certification Of Veterinary Inspection) certificates must be scheduled well in advance. These exams are separate from a standard annual wellness exam. A non-refundable deposit is required to schedule.

Urgent Care:  These appointments allow your pet to receive prompt care for non-life threatening but serious injuries, accidents and/or illnesses. Urgent care availability is limited and can vary based on our day-to-day capabilities.

Medical Grooms:  These appointments are pre-scheduled, day admission appointments. A medical groom is the  process of carefully shaving down a pet's matted fur. Properly tending to mats on your pet's fur can be an uncomfortable process for pets to have to endure over an extended period of time. For the comfort and safety of your pet, medical grooms typically require sedation.  Your pet will be monitored closely and will be scheduled to go home later that day.

Recheck Visits: Recheck visits are with a Doctor to assess a pet's progress and to follow-up on your pet's disease, diagnosis or illness. Many ailments can progress undetected or may not have not entirely resolved from their initial treatment and a recheck visit is required.
